  • 1991: PhD in Mechanics-Mathematics, Institute of Mechanics in Hanoi, Vietnam

Scientific employment and academic responsibility:

  • 1981-1987: Teacher of the Department of Mechanics-Mathematics, Hue University. Subject of teaching: Theoretical fluid mechanics.
  • 1987-1999: Researcher of the Department of Computational Fluid Dynamics, Institute of Mechanics, Vietnamese Academy of Science and Technology (VAST).
  • 2000 – until now: Researcher of the Department of Marine Mechanics, Institute of Mechanics, VAST. Field of work: Numerical modelling on sediment transport and bed morphodynamics in estuaries and coastal zones.

  • 7/1996-6/1997: Visiting researcher of HR Wallingford, England within the UK Royal Society postdoctoral fellowship for the third world. Field of work: 2DH numerical modelling on cohesive sediment transport in estuaries and coastal areas.
  • 10/1998-7/1999: Visiting researcher of Department of Physical Geography, Utrecht University, The Netherlands.  Field of work:  1DV numerical modelling on sand transport under wave in coastal areas.
  • 12/2001-11/2003: Visiting researcher of GKSS Research Centre, Institute for Coastal Research, Germany. Field of work: 3D numerical modelling on sand transport and morphodynamics.
